I don’t know how evident this is, but I hate spoilers for all forms of storytelling. So rest-assured that this link does not take you to any horrible plot-spoiling location. It really just reminds you of all the things going on and may contain small details you’ve forgotten in the long time during the show’s hiatus. We can thank EW.com for this one.
By the way, “Lost” is now on Thursday nights (mostly because of the WGA strike) at 9pm (8pm central). Tonight ABC is airing the 2-hour season finale from last year with, if I’m not mistaken, little bits of information Pop-Up Video style. If you haven’t been watching “Lost,” now is not the time to jump in, unless of course you are going to start at the beginning and watch all three completed seasons before tomorrow night.
Oh, and about that promo picture for this season (above), some website mentioned the subtle image of a city-scape on the water. Lost undersea city? Some other symbolic meaning? All I know is we probably won’t find out anytime soon (which I think is okay!).
I don’t usually get excited about stage announcements at the Smash Bros. Dojo, but today’s really impressed me. I especially like how they updated the look of the environments and the interesting constant sidescrolling nature. I’m just trying to imagine a Mario that would fit into this aesthetic. Oh, and the music entry right below the stage announcement was promising at first, but in the end I wasn’t impressed.
A few months ago I watched a (not very good) movie called Driftwood in which Talan Torriero of “Laguna Beach” played a ruthless guard. He looks like someone I knew in high school named Dan Tripp, and for a while I thought it was actually him. It is just as weird as you would think to see someone you know show up in a movie, regardless of how independent/low-budget it is (and, in my case, regardless of whether or not it’s really him).
Then a couple weeks ago I was at the chiropractor getting my then biweekly adjustment and electro-stim therapy, and as I’m lying down on the bed thingy during the therapy a strange new person comes into the small curtained-off area to ask if I need the voltage turned up at all (I realize this sounds scary, but I assure you it’s nothing like electro-shock therapy for psychiatric patients… I don’t think). So I assumed this strange man was Dr. McGinn, the owner of the practice, just checking up on his therapy room technician. I couldn’t see him completely because I was lying on my stomach and my neck couldn’t manage a severe enough turn to get a look at his face. Finally I got up to find that the guy I thought was Dr. McGinn was in fact someone that looked strikingly younger and familiar. I couldn’t tell exactly who it was, but I’m sure I had a very creepy surprised look on my face when I saw him (I’ve never been good at hiding my facial reactions to things). So as I’m walking out the door I vaguely remember hearing someone in the therapy room saying something about a Dr. Clark. As I got myself situated in my car the connections were complete: I had just been technicianized by none other than Cam Clark! I still don’t know for sure that it was him, but I’m fairly certain pending my next visit on February 6th. Oh, and just to assuage any confusion, it was the good Cam Clark, not the one who on upon both meetings vomited before my very eyes.
Who would buy this? I mean, some of my friends and I were joking about performing songs at a Christmas party using Rock Band, but would anyone do this seriously? It may take skill to play Rock Band, especially on the harder difficulty levels, but it still is NOT playing actual instruments. No need for smoke and lights to go along with your lame “rock show.”
I also found this video. I don’t know if it’s actually funny, but the little words that pop up during and after the battle made me laugh.
So I do my daily check at the Smash Bros. Dojo and see what I think it just another weird item/character that can be picked up and used during play. But no! It’s an actual playable character announcement! I wonder if my brother will ever be anyone different.
You can listen to the music for a Pikmin stage(?) here. This game has some crazy additions now. You get all five colors of pikmin, and they can die separately from Olimar, which means you’ll have to worry about so much more. I know b1ngo hated when even one little pikmin would let out its death-scream as its little ghost floated away into the ether.
Yoinked from Yahoo!, here’s a list of the ten most anticipated games of 2008. At least three of them probably won’t see a 2008 release – ten points of you guess which ones.
Personally, the games I’m most excited about are MGS4, Spore, and WotLK. I got into MGS late in life, but have fallen in love with the story. I’ve been following Spore since the beginning and see myself falling entirely into that game the way I used to fall into SimCity. WotLK, well… it goes without saying that I’m a big WoW fan. I don’t play as hardcore as most – Burning Crusade has been out since January of LAST year and I just got my first 70 last Friday. But I love the Warcraft lore, and regardless of how much Blizzard has bastardized it, I’m excited about going to Northrend.
XIII I don’t know enough about to really be pumped, and Smash Brothers goes without saying. But what is this? A Halo RTS? This actually has me a little excited. I’m a huge fan of RTSes – I’ve played a plethora of them. I’m still trying to get Jordan to play Warcraft 3 (the RTS by which all other RTSes are judged). It’ll be interesting to see what they do with this – hopefully it won’t be console only. Note to self: Do more research on this!
I haven’t talked at all about the WGA strike and the subsequent lack of new scripted content that will plague me starting about now. Without getting too much into it I’ll say I’m in support of the writers.
Another victim of this lasting-too-long strike is the Golden Globes telecast: NBC has just canceled it. I guess some actors were refusing to make an appearance in support of the writers, so it appears that one of the many obsolete and superfluous (in my opinion) awards shows has been killed by the strike. I guess it might be back when all this business is over, but I’m interested to see what happens around Oscar time in a few months.
